Hydraulic drilling jars are masterpieces of mechanical design, with two pistons ingeniously separated by a valve. When you apply tension or compression to the armed hydraulic jar, the fluid within one piston is expertly compressed and directed to the other piston, overcoming high flow resistance. This mechanism controls the arming time - higher pulling or pushing forces lead to shorter arming durations. The distance traversed is known as the stroke; when this stroke reaches a critical point, the compressed fluid is rapidly released via a bypass valve, propelling the fluid to the second piston and equalizing pressure almost instantaneously. The greater the applied force, the more compressed the fluid, resulting in a shorter arming time and a more potent jarring force.
In scenarios where the drill string becomes lodged at the bottom during drilling or if unexpected twist-offs occur, our jar provides a powerful upward motion to release it. Should the pipe become ensnared off-bottom in key seats or due to other impediments, you can rely on downward jarring to free it. Post-release, upward reaming methods can be employed to safely recover the entire drill string, ensuring operational continuity.
Encountering differential sticking can pose a significant challenge, necessitating the movement of the jammed pipe to resume rotation and circulation.
