1.Key components:
Pins and sockets: Silver-plated copper contacts improve conductivity and corrosion resistance, ensuring low-resistance connection (contact resistance ≤ 0.5Ω).
Shell material: Aluminum alloy or engineering plastics (such as PEEK) achieve lightweight (single plug weight ≤ 15kg), while meeting the requirements of impact resistance and high temperature resistance (-40ºC~120ºC).

2.Sealing design:

Double O-ring or multi-layer composite sealing structure (such as PTFE+silicone) to prevent hydraulic oil and drilling fluid from penetrating into the plug.
Fully sealed cable connectors (such as model 30156341-70) are suitable for high pressure and high vibration conditions.

Function:Protection and Safety Assurance:
Adopting explosion-proof design (such as ExB II series explosion-proof waterproof electrical connector), it can adapt to the flammable and explosive environment underground, and prevent water and dust intrusion through IP67/IP68 protection level.
Integrated overcurrent protection device (such as fuse) to avoid equipment damage caused by abnormal current.

Application Scenario:
Traveling cable connection: From the top drive body to the second floor of the derrick, the main motor power and sensor signals are transmitted.
Ground cable docking: Connect the frequency conversion room and the bottom of the rig to support power distribution and control command transmission.
Maintenance optimization
 

 

Regular Inspection:
Monitor the appearance (such as cracks, rust) and electrical performance (such as insulation resistance ≥100MΩ) of the plug, clean the contacts and reapply conductive grease every 1000 hours.
Troubleshooting::
Poor contact: Replace the worn pins or adjust the insertion force27.
Seal failure: Replace the O-ring or the whole plug (such as the Bohai Drilling Team uses domestic explosion-proof plugs instead of original parts, saving costs ≥50%)6.

Technical standards and selection
Certification requirements: Comply with ATEX explosion-proof certification (Ex d IIB T4) and IEC 60529 protection standards to ensure the safety of underground operations47.
Selection basis: Match the plug specifications according to the cable type (such as vertical cable, ground auxiliary cable), voltage level (AC 380V/DC 24V) and environmental conditions (such as temperature, corrosiveness)
